TRAIN UP A CHILD
READ PROVERBS 21:1 THROUGH 24:34
Parents deal with mischief and disobedience from their children daily. When children are born, parents should make a commitment to raise them to love the Lord. One way to do that is to make sure that the home is centered on Jesus. It’s good for children to see their parents spending time with God by reading the Bible and praying. Children should also be able to recognize that their parents make decisions that are consistent with their faith.
As children progress into their teenage years, they sometimes begin to struggle with their faith and their desire to honor God. When parents feel overwhelmed, it’s good to remember what Scripture says.
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it (Proverbs 22:6).
The verse challenges Christians to remain committed to training children in God’s ways, even when their current behavior doesn’t line up with Scripture.
Prayer Suggestion: Ask God to help you teach your children and grandchildren His ways, even if the young people seem to be straying.
